A little rain, and a change of plans!

Today, we were supposed to go to Rottnest Island, but in the morning it was chucking it down, which meant there would be very rough waves. Luckily, the rain only lasted about half an hour before it disappeared! So instead, we decided to go to the nearby aquarium. The taxi ride was quite long, but it was fine.

The first things we saw were lots of tropical fish, like clownfish (Nemo) and blue tangs (Dory). Then we saw my favourite thing in the aquarium, the jellyfish. They were so cool because it looked like they were flying through the tank! We also saw some really weird jellyfish called upside-down jellyfish. Instead of chasing their food, they just wait for it to float into their mouths. Then we saw some baby crocodiles, more tropical fish, and stingrays.

After that, we went into the Danger Zone, where all the dangerous aquatic animals live. The first thing we saw was the lionfish, with its incredibly powerful venom. Then we saw a fish that I forgot the name of, but after looking it up, I think it was an angel shark. It buries itself in the sand before suddenly jumping out to catch its prey. My favourite animal in the Danger Zone, though, was the mantis shrimp. I love this one because I've been watching lots of YouTube videos about it, and its punch is as fast as a .22 calibre bullet, or about 50 times faster than the blink of an eye. It's so powerful that nearby fish can die just from the shockwave!

Then we went underground to see a massive tank filled with fish, stingrays, turtles, sharks, and even scuba divers (huh!?). There was a moving walkway that slowly carried us through the tunnel. At the end, one of the scuba divers was doing the "scuba meme", making the number 67 with his hands, and even playing rock, paper, scissors with everyone! Mummy lost, but I won!

After the aquarium, we had a look around the nearby shops. There were loads of cool places to explore before we headed down to the beach for a walk. It was a really nice way to end the day.
